As a former Senior Lecturer specialising in Small Business start up activities with much
personal experience in developing his own businesses Stuart is well placed to assist others.
Few people achieve success in life without surviving set backs. Stuart is no exception!
He believes that it is by dealing with such “challenges” one is better placed to cope
and prevent others from such pitfalls. “Life is a poor teacher” he says.
“It gives you the test first; and the lesson afterwards!” As a seasoned educationalist
and family man he knows that’s the wrong way round.
“My own background is an open book. I went to Grammar School but missed out on University first time round.
I made up for that years later by studying at the Open University. I also obtained an Adult Education Certificate,
Diplomas in Management, Marketing, Business Excellence and Performance Coaching.
I have both studied and taught Management Studies at Masters Level, have an interest in Neuro Linguistic Programming
and continue a vigorous self-improvement programme. Nevertheless, my greatest interest and belief is in Action Learning – it works!”
As far as business is concerned his experience both personal and vicarious is vast.
“The activity I have least experience in is manufacturing. So I go to specialists if that is the issue.
It seldom is the only area that needs improving – generally that is the tip of the iceberg.
The crucial thing is to get the business owner to recognise that help is needed
– and that is as much psychological as anything!”

But, it is more sensible to run it well – many business people wake up to find that their business is running them!
